THE SHORT VERSION
The app is local-first.
Pitchcall does not require a Pitchcall account and does not operate a cloud database for your teams, players, games, pitches, or radar readings. That information stays on your iPhone. Separate network activity is limited to services such as firmware delivery, App Store subscription processing, website measurement, and communications you choose to send us.
01 / THE IOS APP
Information handled by the app
This section describes information that the app handles on your device. Unless stated otherwise, Pitchcall does not receive this information.
Roster, game, pitch, stats, notes, and related records use the app’s local SwiftData store.
The shared passphrase is stored in the iOS Keychain and used locally to derive the team encryption key.
The app communicates directly with selected Pitchcall watches and, if you enable it, a compatible radar device.
The current iOS app does not include a third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDK.
Team, player, and game records
Information you choose to enter or create may include team and player names, jersey numbers, lineup and position details, handedness, notes, game rules and scores, at-bats, pitch calls and locations, pitch results, radar speeds, plays, statistics, and saved short team messages. The app stores these records in a local on-device database using Apple’s SwiftData framework. Appearance, pitch-grid, button, and connection preferences are also stored locally on the device.
Team passphrase
The app stores your shared team passphrase as a generic password item in the iOS Keychain. It uses the passphrase locally to derive a key that protects pitch-call and team-message payloads sent to your team relay. Pitchcall does not receive the passphrase, and the app does not include it in firmware requests or App Store subscription transactions.
Bluetooth devices
If you grant Bluetooth permission, the app scans for and connects to nearby Pitchcall relay watches. It sends pitch calls, short team messages, display or pitch-grid settings, and firmware-update control data, and it receives device identity, connection, fleet, and firmware status. The app may remember a selected device identifier locally so it can reconnect.
If you choose to connect a compatible Bluetooth radar, the app listens for device notifications and shows or records speed readings. It does not send radar application commands or radar credentials. Bluetooth communications occur between your iPhone and nearby devices; Pitchcall does not receive your calls, team messages, or radar readings through this feature.
The current app may write Bluetooth radar notification details and decoded speed readings to diagnostic logs on your device. The app does not include a third-party crash-reporting SDK and does not upload these logs to Pitchcall.
Firmware checks and downloads
When subscription access is active, the app checks pitchcall.app for current watch firmware metadata and downloads the firmware image so you can update compatible watches over Bluetooth. These HTTPS requests necessarily expose ordinary network information—such as IP address, request time, and requested file—to our website hosting infrastructure. They do not include your roster, game history, pitch calls, radar readings, or team passphrase. Downloaded firmware is verified and cached in the app’s local storage.
02 / APP STORE BILLING
Free trials and paid subscriptions
Pitchcall subscriptions and any introductory free trial are provided through Apple’s App Store. Apple determines trial eligibility and processes your Apple Account, payment method, billing, purchase history, renewals, cancellations, and refunds under Apple’s App Store privacy terms.
The app uses Apple’s StoreKit framework on your device to receive the limited transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock subscription features, such as the product purchased, transaction identifier, purchase and expiration dates, and whether an entitlement is active, expired, revoked, or in a trial period. The app does not send that transaction record to a Pitchcall server, and Pitchcall does not receive your full payment-card number or Apple Account password.
Apple may separately make App Store Connect sales and subscription reports available to us, including aggregate or pseudonymous performance and storefront information. We may use those reports to operate the business, measure subscription performance, provide support, and maintain accounting records. We do not link them to the team, player, game, pitch, passphrase, or radar records stored in the app.
You can view or cancel a subscription from your Apple Account subscription settings. Apple explains those controls on its Subscriptions and Billing page. Deleting the Pitchcall app does not cancel a subscription.
03 / WEBSITE
Website analytics and watch setup
Google Analytics on marketing pages
Our public marketing pages use Google Analytics 4 to understand site use. The Google tag can collect page views, session statistics, approximate location, referring page, and browser, device, language, and operating-system information. It uses a first-party _ga cookie containing a random client identifier to distinguish visitors and sessions. Google states that Analytics uses IP addresses during collection to derive location and then discards them before the addresses are logged or stored.
We also measure clicks on links labeled for early access and equipment shopping; those events contain the link URL and link text. We do not intentionally send player information, app records, or the watch-setup passphrase to Google Analytics. The watch provisioning page and this Privacy Policy do not load Google Analytics.
Learn more in Google’s pages about Analytics data collection and Google’s privacy practices. You can clear or block cookies in your browser or use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Browser privacy signals
Our marketing pages do not load Google Analytics when the browser exposes an enabled Global Privacy Control signal or a Do Not Track value of 1. Browser support for these signals varies. You can also block or clear cookies using your browser controls. Pitchcall does not use Google advertising signals or permit ad-personalization signals in its website Analytics configuration.
Browser-based watch provisioning
If you use our watch setup tool, your browser requests access to a USB serial port only after you select a device. Firmware data is downloaded from pitchcall.app and written directly to the selected watch. The team passphrase you enter is saved in that browser’s local storage to make setting up additional watches easier and is sent over the selected USB connection to the watch. It is not added to a URL, firmware image, analytics event, or our server logs. You can remove it with the tool’s “Clear saved passphrase from this browser” control or by clearing site data in your browser.
Website infrastructure and external resources
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure receives ordinary request information such as IP address, browser or user-agent details, requested URL, and date and time to deliver and protect the site and firmware files. Pages also request typefaces from Google Fonts. The provisioning page loads the open-source esptool-js library from unpkg to communicate with a selected watch. Those providers receive the ordinary network information required to return the requested resource and handle it under their own terms.
If you email us, we receive your email address and the message and attachments you choose to provide. We use that information to respond, provide support, and keep an appropriate record of the conversation.
04 / HOW INFORMATION IS USED
Use, disclosure, and security
We use information we receive to provide and maintain Pitchcall, confirm subscription access, deliver firmware, answer support requests, measure and improve our website, protect the service, and comply with law.
We disclose information only as needed to:
- Service providers, including Apple for App Store subscriptions; Google for website hosting, Analytics, and fonts; unpkg for the provisioning library; and providers that support our email and infrastructure.
- Legal and safety recipients, if disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, or enforce applicable terms.
- A successor organization, in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
For app data Pitchcall provides to a service provider, we require the provider to give the same or equivalent protection described in this policy and to use the information only to perform its services, except where law requires otherwise. Apple and other providers may also process information they receive directly from you under their own privacy terms.
We do not receive or sell the team, player, game, pitch, team-message, passphrase, or radar data stored locally by the iOS app. The app does not contain third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not use local app data for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. Pitchcall does not sell personal information for money.
We use safeguards appropriate to the information and feature, including HTTPS for network downloads, iOS Keychain storage for the app passphrase, passphrase-derived protection for team messages, and cryptographic verification of firmware. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, however.
05 / YOUR CONTROLS
Retention and choices
- App records: Local SwiftData records remain on your iPhone until you delete them in the app or remove the app and its data. Because we do not receive those records, we cannot retrieve or delete them remotely.
- App passphrase: Use the app’s passphrase controls to replace or clear the Keychain item. Keychain items can persist independently of ordinary app data in some Apple backup, restore, or app-reinstallation circumstances, so clear the passphrase in the app when you no longer want it saved.
- Bluetooth: You can stop a connection in the app or change Pitchcall’s Bluetooth permission in iOS Settings. Disabling Bluetooth prevents watch and radar features from working.
- Browser passphrase: Use the clear control in the provisioning tool or clear pitchcall.app site data in your browser.
- Website analytics: Use an enabled Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, browser cookie controls, or Google’s opt-out add-on. Google Analytics data is retained according to the settings for our Analytics property and Google’s applicable terms.
- Website delivery and security logs: Hosting providers retain request information only as needed to deliver and secure the site, diagnose reliability issues, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or deidentified according to the provider’s configured controls and backup cycle.
- Subscriptions: Manage or cancel them through Apple. Apple controls retention of App Store billing and transaction information under its own policies.
- App Store reports: We keep any reports or accounting records we obtain from Apple only as long as needed for support, business records, tax, audit, and other legal obligations.
- Support communications: We keep emails for as long as reasonably needed to respond, provide support, maintain business records, or meet legal obligations.
06 / YOUTH SPORTS
Children’s information
Pitchcall is a tool for coaches and team operators and is not designed for children to create accounts or submit information to us. We recognize that a coach may enter information about youth players into the app. That information remains in the app’s local storage and is not uploaded to a Pitchcall account or cloud database. The adult operating the app is responsible for having authority to enter and use player information and should enter only what is appropriate for team operations.
If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to us, for example in a support email, contact us so we can review and address it.
07 / REQUESTS
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information we control, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have rights to opt out of certain sales or sharing, appeal a decision, receive equal service when exercising a privacy right, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Email us to make a request; we may need to verify it before responding.
Most app information is controlled directly on your iPhone and is not available to us. Requests concerning App Store billing information should be directed to Apple, and requests about Google’s independent processing can be made through Google’s privacy controls.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Pitchcall changes. We will post the revised version here and change the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when reasonably appropriate.
